[edit] To Link or Create new difinitions

'"When generic definition isn't well suited. For example, a definition of albumin may be to esoteric for our needs"'

I beg to differ. What audience you are trying to cut out by leaving out the "esoteric" information? There is a lot to learn and none of it to me is esoteric for in this instance, I basically consider myself under the category of student wanting to learn all that I can about albumin. I'm sure I could dig up a bunch of interesting information about the said subject. --SharonGrant 4 July 2005 06:21 (CDT)
Sorry for not clarifying. The idea is to link terms that we use freely to other sources such as Wikipedia for definitions. If/when it makes sense to "roll our own" definitions for the sake of our target audiences, then it would be appropriate to create a new article/definition that can be linked to. Even if we do create our own definition, it would be appropriate to include "See also" with links to external sources such as Wikipedia. LarryEitel 5 July 2005 15:31 (CDT)

[edit] Please Indicate Yes or No

Can we proceed with populating our blood fractions with the Section Headings? Please either make more adjustments or append your affirmation here whether or not to proceed.

[edit] Please Indicate Yes or No

Is our Blood Fractions Summary Outline accurate and complete? Yes or please adjust accordingly.

No. Under "Plasma" we need to add clotting factors.DavidAmpleford 7 July 2005 00:18 (CDT)

[edit] See Also

In citing references to published articles on a given topic where we cite for example medical journals, etc. would there be any objection to including references to articles published the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society?

This could be a contentious issue. I'd like to hear what others have to say.DavidAmpleford 7 July 2005 00:18 (CDT)
I agree with David. Those articles are also easily obtainable to any who are interested in them. My thought on the guide: The chart on the fraction guide still shows platelet gel. Platelet gel is a procedure, not a fraction. A patient's own blood is used and then returned to them, much like hemodilution or cell salvage. Perhaps we should start a new section after the fraction guide is complete about procedures and include platelet gel. Until then, let's take it off the fraction guide.
While we can certainly set some guidelines in terms of what kind of information we are looking for, we would then be required to explain WHAT and WHY we DO NOT permit certain information. As a public site and under a heading intended to list related published articles, would we be reasonable to restrict a reference to an article such as: That Amazing Fluid Within You! g76 3/22 9-12? There are numerous very well researched articles that bear upon many of the healthcare topics we cover. Further comments? LarryEitel 7 July 2005 08:25 (CDT)
